Legalize Utah launches "2010 Medical Marijuana Survey"
After extremely enlightening, educational and sometimes shocking results from the "2010 Marijuana Survey" sponsored by Legalize Utah, the grassroots organization (whose goal is to Educate then Legislate Utah lawmakers into legalizing medical marijuana) has created and uploaded a new marijuana survey, this one specifically designed toward the medical marijuana user.
The "2010 Medical Marijuana Survey Sponsored by Legalize Utah" explores some of the same issues as did the first survey, however the differences are apparent.
Questions such as "Do you use Medical Marijuana to treat any physical or psychological conditions", "Do you use cannabis in place of synthetic or prescription narcotic drugs", "How do you choose to ingest your medical marijuana? i.e. - smoking, drink, eat" and "Have you ever purchased any "tobacco paraphernalia" in Utah such as bongs, pipes" are designed for medical marijuana users, specifically those who live and suffer in silence, behind "the Zion curtain" inside of Utah's borders.
Another surprise of the research is the attitude and tone about medical marijuana from Utah lawmakers, which appears to be evolving.
By contacting each Utah lawmaker on a regular basis, Legalize Utah has received varied responses from a basic "Hell NO, not in Utah, not EVER, no on My WATCH (thank you Senators Curt Bramble
and
Jon Greiner)
to more reasonable responses such as Representative Carl Wimmer
who admitted he did not feel fully educated on the subject and tweeted "is your goal to legalize MJ period, or simply medical use? What's the end game? I won't condemn u either way at this point."
Of course, Representative Wimmer requested and received additional document ion and he reports he is in the process of reviewing it, along with his other Legislative duties.
Legalize Utah even received support from Representative Rebecca Chavez-Houck
who stated (in part) "I appreciate your concern and interest in the issue pertaining to the legalization of marijuana. I concur with you that the current legislation we have in place regarding marijuana has been highly ineffective and is costing our taxpayers money".
Legalize Utah also sent the "2010 Medical Marijuana Survey" to over 1,420 face book "friends" in addition to all lawmakers and candidates for Utah office.
Interesting, educational and emotional are all words used to describe the previous survey and it will be interesting to see what the "2010 Medical Marijuana Survey" says.
Legalize Utah will post updates on the website as well as Facebook as deemed necessary and track results with charts, graphs and anonymous quotations.
